Help!! 03 Transporter T4 2.5 tdi

Recently bought this van & now have a flashing yellow 'coil' lamp on dash. Have found out it indicates an error on engine management system. Can anyone recommend an appropriate code reader. Would also be good to know where the diagnostic socket is located. Thanks in advance.
