Hi,
Has anyone fitted an aftermarket single din stereo to their Passat? I've seen some good posts and photos on here regarding some smart looking double din stereos, but I'm trying to link my Sony Walkman mp3 player, which only seems to work with Sony stereos (tried JVC, Kenwood and Pioneer in the shop, none of which would display the track info on the head unit). I don't think Sony make an aftermarket double din stereo, so I'm looking into fitting a regular size head unit with a plastic tray insert beneath the stereo unit, like the ones on ebay or here for example...

Any pictures of single din stereos anyone?

Just searched for 'passat facia adaptor' on google and you can find them cheaper elsewhere!

Hi d onions,

I can't say how good this is or vouch for the retailer, but SONY do do a double din unit.

Check this site out - just googled sony double din car stereo/DVD

If you require a facia adapter plate and can-bus lead let me know, I have one going spare now I've sold my Passat. £40 + postage and there yours!

Great stuff, thanks for the info. I have to be honest and say that I'm looking at the lower priced end of the ice market. But that Sony double din looks great... and thanks for your offer on your canbus/adaptor plate though.
I prefer the look of the double din as it fits the dash it was designed for, I'm just not sure if a single din would look a bit odd, or just take some getting used to.

Hi
I have just fitted my singal din Sony DAB unit
I got both my fascia adaptor and the cable loom from
in car mart of ebay.
very good service
the fascia has a single din plus a little cubby box which you can have either way. not a bad fit at all.
for the money i am well chuffed.

Hi stringman, thanks for replying. Any chance you can stick a quick photo on here so I can see how the single din looks in place of the double din??? Ta

very delayed response to your reply

two photos attached
both show the unit with the head unit fitted ( can either go in the top half or the bottom half)

one photo shows the modification with the head unit to make the display match the car display

I considered a single din, but I decided that it would just look a bit lost in the dash - Your stereo looks nice stringman, but I think that a double din fills the gap a bit better.
