Hi all,can anyone tell me the official intervals for replacing the cambelt on my diesel polo. It is coming up on 80,000 miles and i have a new belt ready to be fitted. is there anything i need to know to perform the change at home? any pictures or advice would be much appreciated...........thanks ...steve

Anyone out there who can help me, I was gonna buy the haynes manual but it doesnt cover the polo diesel estate,im sure the mechanicals are similar but no point in buyin the book it if doesnt cover all the quirks of the estate.

What is the engine code ?

I assume it is a rotary pumped TDI in which case you will need to...

Time up engine.
Remove cam cover and centre / equalise the cam using a dedicated tool.
Lock the Crank using a dedicated tool.
Lock the pump using a dedicated tool.

Have you tried going to VW's Er-win site and downloading the engine module for your car ?

Costs about £7 but is well worth it if your tackling something like a belt change.
