alright ive worked in tyres for 6 years well im thinking they are 205/55/16? v or w try and stay away from the budget side of tyres yeah they look good and the price is great but im telling you straight as a tyre fitter buy the best tyres you can afford because the cheaper tyres arent any good really most offer poor grip or stort life. the most common excuse we use to get when a bloke walked in to my depot and asked for the cheapest tyres we have was "its for my wife" and we use to say, why? dont you like her? the nickname for budgets all the tyre lads use is "ditch finders" stay away if you can from brands you havent heard of stuff like faulken, federal, admiral etc i personally like avon, toyo(alittle soft) or michelin

o yeah and firestone, pirelli are good alittle soft and sounds like the yokohams are over priced if they are the same price as pirelli

Thanks for that.
I was thinking of the Micheleins as I would feel safer.
For a difference of £70 its worth it.
Its very interesting for me as I am in to my 4x4s and remoulds are the best tyre for us!
Very few people make good off road tyres new its mainly remoulds.
Colway did some fantastic stuff till they went bust, now we buy Insa Turbo Saharas, basically its a similar pattern to a dumper tyre but road legal, but we dont do high speeds, I am more interested in off road performance, but still need some good road manners for my little jeep, but the wifes Bora must be safe and have good tyre life
I dont know if I am allowed to post this, but this guy is the best in the UK for 4x4 tyres

Nice bloke and very competative on price, but he is a 4x4 specialist.
Are Cost co really the cheapest for Michelin?

i can't comment on anything other than the p6000s.
thats what was on my bora when i got it,and have replaced the front two (with the same)
last month. i paid £130 the pair, fitted and balanced, valves inc.
i'm happy with them, though that doesn't mean the others may not be better,i just don't know them, but what i will say is this.
don't go for budget tyres.
the 130 bora is not the fastest car in the world, but it is quite potent and i'm sure that when you wave your wife off in the morning you are looking forward to seeing her again(after the footballs finished)!!!
regards,
stewy.

P6000's seem to be a good choice. I've got them on my standard MKiv golf alloys and they do well in all conditions - although those wheels are in the garage now as I have some 17's fitted :)

Hi.
Was wingers right with the tyre size? If so, you've got so much choice, it's the second most common size in the UK market. If you're after something 'premium', have a look at the Goodyear OptiGrip, it's a brand new tyre (launched last month), had really good reviews. It's selling point is that it's tread changes as it wears. It was independantly tested and after 12,000 miles it could out-brake a brand new Continental. Not bad!

If you're set on Mich, you wont get cheaper than from Costco, they're cheaper than ATS and they're Michelin owned! I've taken friends and family to Costco for tyres and have always received really good service from them.
