hi all, i`m new to this forum and can`t decide which car to buy.i either want a 54 plate or newer AUDI A4 1.8T 190 S-LINE or a 03 BMW 330I.do many of you guy`s on this forum own any of these audi`s? if so are they a good car and do they have many problems.is there anything i should look for when going to buy one?when i go car sales places the salesman try to steer me towards the BMW saying it`s higher spec car even though it maybe older than the AUDI`S i`m looking at but their both the same price.they also say the audi is for the more older person and the BWM is for people my age 33.

hoping for some good advice.

I've just got myself an A4 1.8T 190 S-Line Quattro after months of trying to decide between a 330Ci M Sport or the Audi. And I'm 25 !!!

In the end it is all about what you want out of the car. If you are looking for comfort, reliability and quality. Get the Audi. If you want the faster option and fun (rear wheel drive) get the BMW.

But if you want my advice. Get a Quattro A4 and you'll never look back.

And remember... If you live in GB. You can go as fast in a quattro what ever the weather. Floor it in the BM and you'll be ar5e end in a ditch very soon ;-)

Yeah I'm 24 and have had so far 2 VWs, 1 Land Rover and 2 Audis in that order.

Have been in a ride in a BMW 330 and wasn't too impressed with the interior over the Audi.

I think the Audi design looks better too IMO.

lots of tuning option for the 1.8T that could make a 330i look like it's standing still.

I BMW's and owned them but my last car was a B5 A4 1.8tq and today I get my B6 1.8Tq S-Line (190bhp) all for £4300 on a 04 plate very happy.

So i take it that the insurance paid out for the last car?

Hi, I've had the M3 in the same shape and it was a great car. Not alot between the m3 and the 330 for road use. A problem i did have with the M3 was with the vanos unit which failed once in warranty and then again out of warranty. It's a £2500 job which was obviously free the first time it failed( i say failed but it just gets very noisey) and the second time i had to pay £600 labour cost as the "part" was 1 year out of warranty and bmw paid for the new part out of good will. Apart from that it was a great car. I don't know if the 330 has a vanos unit but i would expect it does so it would be worth checking if it's been replaced as they are a common problem and not cheap if you have to pay yourself. I have a diesel a4 avant now and am very happy with it although i miss the grunt of the BM but how fast can you go on the streets anyway? I would say imo that the A4 is the better looking car and you don't see too many about compared to the 3 series. The A4 has a better interior/dash etc too in a standard trim . I don't know what else to say really it's up to you. They are both pukka motors so i don't think you can go wrong with either. One thing i will say though is the sound of the straight six bm lump is music to the ears and it screams when you open it up. The choice is yours!!:approve:

FWD will have better MPG but the RWD will come in to it's own if you plan on mods or just in crap weather.

I have 2004 1.8t s-line 190ps and is fwd a bit sad i did't go for 4wd, so i'm not a expert but my friend got rs4 what a car love it, if you have lot of power you have to put it somewhere if you know what i mean, getting 4wd car is less chance that you will spin your wheals and actualy get your car moving more quickly then fwd, hope that helps

Thanks
Adrian

Sweet looks like mine without the side swipe and I got mine on Friday and MOT it today after swapping in to doors (Got a project going on after my B5 RS4 body was stolen & trashed).

I have to say I like it alot, its somewhat different to my B5 1.8Tq but nice all the same.
