Hello from the Frozen North (Scotland!) :1zhelp:
I have an electrical problem with my 1998 Mk3 GTI 8v (and also with the letter "o" on my keyboard - so apologies in advance!)
Sometimes the car just dies while driving - tacho drops to zero and oil light flashes even though the engine is still turning. If I wait 2 mins the car will start again and be fine.
Occasinally it will not start in the morning but there is a buzzing noise frm behind the instrument binnacle - not the relays - whilst turning over. No priming noise from the fuel pump on thse occasions. If I switch off and wait for a click from one of the relays the pump primes and the car starts.
Both symptoms usually occur on damp days (we have lots up here) bt not after driving thrugh water. No faults found using vag.com. So far have replaced fuel pump relay, all HT compnents and checked wiring to the fel pump, cil etc Please HELP - it is my only car!!
