I recently had the driver footwell problem getting wet, so cleaned up the plenum chamber a couple of weeks ago, since then no water has come through.
The last couple of days, ive noticed when i lock the car, the hazards flick for around 30 seconds, then go off, and then the same thing happens again, this happens a few times. No audible alarm, just the hazard lights flashing constantly. Whilst this is happening the car remains locked, and the flashing red light on the door is on/flashing as normal.
Whats causing this?
Thanks.

Does The Alarm Siren Sound At All . I Took The Siren Off My Passat Due To Internal Battery Failure And Didnt Fancy Spending £90 On A New 1. If I Enter The Car And Dont Put Keys In Ignition The Hazzards Flash As If The Alarm Would Be Sounding As Normal .

Could Be Your Alarm Is Trying To Sound Too But The Siren Is Knackered. ??

Did you check the module under the passenger footwell it can be flooded and cause weird faults.

any ideas..anyone,
the hazard flickers constantly now all the time, with a gap of around 10-15 seconds, before starting again. I disconnected the fuse for the hazards, and this has had no effect!!
is there a fuse for the alarm? couldnt see it on the fuse diagram

how does one disconnect the alarm?
ive got someone looking at this problem over the weekend, but if i can disconnect the alarm before then...otherwise these hazards going off every 10 seconds is going to do me nut in!

See this link, you will have to disconnect on the sounder unit which is down the side of the battery.

thanks mate, to disconnect the sounder, is it just a cable which one just unplugs?

It is a block connector onto the Alarm Sounder.
The Alarm Sounder has non rechargeble back up batteries in it and when they start to fail it starts to chirp after you set the alarm as a warning they are about to fail. When they do fail the alarm start very eratic behaviour.
The earlyunit's were also prone to ingress of water giving the similar behaviour.
That is the code reading 01134- H12 and 77 00- Internal supply voltage
A replacement unit is about £80 from VW.
remember your radio safe code if you disconnect the Batt. Once you have done the job if your central locking is funny, just disconnect the batt. again, give it 30 secs and reconnect and the locking will reset its self also.
