Has anyone out there tried running a tdi on vegetable oil?
I have been looking into this as a possible enviro friendly and cheap option for my MK4 115 pd tdi golf.

From what I've found out so far it seams like there is good scope for running an old td on oil with the right kit fitted to heat the oil etc

However I can find no information on anyone having fitted a kit to a tdi, in particular the new pd tdis.

Getting hold of a kit is no problem, but it would appear that it has never been tried on a vwpd tdi

Info I've seen on running veg oil suggests that new tdi engines are so highly tunned and complex in the way they inject fuel, that use of veg oil could cause significant problems, as even when heated it is still thicker than diesel. Unless the oil is heated significantly more than 90 deg C, that being the temp usually possible using the cars cooling system, the oil will not be close to diesel viscosity.

Anyone else looked into this or tried it out?

Cheers
Aaron
