Hi all, my 1995 Audi Coupe has suffered a set back in that it no longer tells me how fast I am actually driving it, any of you who have driven a 2.6 V6 beauty like mine will know she is very proud of it's ability to take you to 60 in a matter of moments. I have been told it's the speedo sensor that has gone and I would like to know if I can use a sensor from any Audi 80 (don't worry the V6 is out of earshot), or will I need a specific part? Also can anyone tell me where is the best place to source this part?
I look forward to your replies, I am in Honda purgatory whilst the V6 is safely tucked away in a garage waiting for her sensor... Thanks

The feed to the speedo is electronic, take the speedo out and clean all the contacts. The clocks are modular and they are linked by little plugs. Unplug and re-plug these to re-establish a contact.
It often happens and it is an easy cheap fix. Labour only, you can do it yourself.
Like I said above, I would check that the speedo is not at fault, swap it with another before going after the speed sensor.
It is a common problem even on the fastest of the Audi coupes, ie not the V6. :p

Surely it's the driver who makes the difference? With a little help from the car....:D

Which happens to be the same car that Porsche decided to modify, as it had the better chasis.
