Hello;

I've got a 98 Octavia 1.9tdi, which I've just bought. Guy I bought it from said that apparently a hose split, and some diesel leaked into the alternator, which was causing the warning light to come on. The mechanic apparently said that it wouldn't cause a problem - driving would sort it out.

Anyway, i've been driving it with no problems, no other lights, no problem with car. I've booked it into the mechanic next week, but should I be worried about anything?

Thanks
David

If the warning lights still on I'd be worried about draining the battery.

That's what I was worried about. How quick would the battery drain? It's getting long runs every day...

Long runs will not help if its not charging, test the output from the alternator just to be sure. Especially at this time of year with light/wipers on etc. mind you if it was not charging I think you would know by now.
