Passat 1.8T using oil

Hi,

My Uncle as a 2004 ish B5.5 1.8T Estate. On a recent trip to Scotland he needed to top up the oil with around 1 litre having only recently topped it up.

It appears to have needed a litre after about 1,500 miles.

The car is only used for short journeys normally and is regularly serviced and hasn't done this before.

It has done around 40k miles so has had a fairly easy life.

Any thoughts?

It's probably about right, if you have a search on the forum you'll find this is quite common and not anything to worry about. Just make sure you regularly check the dipstick. ;)

Any suggestions as to what to search for as searching for 1.8T and using oil or oil consumption doesn't return much is anything at all.
