View Full Version : A8 Standard Tyre Help

I have a MY 2007 A8 3.0 TDI Quattro, on standard 17" rims. The OE tyres, Bridgestone REO 40s, are now due for replacement.

Does anyone have any recommendations as to what to fit? Priorities are comfort, quietness and reasonably long life.

Have used Goodyear Eagle F1s on previous cars, but never on an A8 - any thoughts on suitability at all?

Cheers, HB.

how many miles did you get from them? - Mine wore very uneven and needed changing at 10k miles.

Just about 21k miles, Steve. Actually wore pretty evenly to be honest. Were yours inflated correctly, or was the tracking out? And what was the replacement brand?

Cheers, HB.

I have a set of Bridgestone potenzas on my 3.0litre (cvt)
9500 miles and showing 5mm tread all round. I am hoping for 20000 miles at least

Can't comment on those tyres, but if you're still looking, we've just changed our standard 17" rims for 19" RS4 ones. We therefore have a full set (5) of Michelin Primacy HP 101W tyres with loads of tread. Not been on the car for long (can check miles done if necessary).

A full set would be nearly £900, but we're not sure what they'd be worth s/hand.

Just checked - the previous owner did 2k on them and we've done less than that. He said that Michelin guarantee them for 25k miles ! Not sure how they do that when it depends on the car's setup and how its driven, but hey ho...

A8-dobbo: did you sell the 17s ? May be interested if you still have them.

Cheers

Hi Nick,

We still have them, but I'm away with work at the moment so cannot get photos / tread depths.

If you pm me an email address I can send photos when I get home if you like ?

i buy all my tyres from camskill.co.uk, they are reasonably priced, never let me down and it gives me the freedom to get them fitted whereveer. maybe worth a try?

Yep, another vote for Camskill here - use them to supply road legal track tyres for our Elise.
