Tyres on the A5

I got a question, on the A5 with 18" Sport one of the tyres has a different tread pattern to the other 3, I was told this makes no difference as long as the tyres are all the same size and ratings., is this true?
I can recall the makes of the tyres.

I guess as long as you aren't mixing radial and crossply on the same axle you should be ok. I wouldn't like to say for definite though

I make a habit of NOT looking at other tyres too closely...
