Cleaning throttle body

Can anyone guide me on how to clean a throttle body on a 97 a4 1.6 se.

I think it needs cleaning, but no experience with this sort of thing.

Plus, I'm skint. :(

I can help on how to do it, but I can tell you we've just had the same thing done on our 1.6SE A3. The bloke at the garage told us it was a common fault and the 1.6 was a bad engine...

Good luck with cleaning it anyhow. I can confirm that it resolved the tick-over problem we had. Although the mechanic told us the whole unit would need to be replaced v-soon!
