Audi A6 2.4SE 1998/S Tiptronic
With no advanced warning, gearbox lost all drive and now unable to select any gear (including park).
There were no mechanical sounds (graunching, whirring, whining, etc) prior to, or following failure.
With the vehicle stationary and engine running there is a slight clicking sound when selecting park (cog noise), but nothing when running through all other gear selections. The instrument panel displays gear selection as expected.
I do not have access to an Onboard Diagnostic Tester, so until I find someone who does, I have a couple of questions:
1. Is this likely to be something really simple?
2. Could low g/box fluid level inhibit drive function?
3. Is it possible that a lead off or electronic failure has caused this problem.
Any ideas to point me in the right direction would be greatly appreciated.
