Hello all

I have recently got my sticky hands on a Mk3 golf gti. It's been running fine for the first 2 months or so, but had recently taken to stalling when idle (ie everytime I have to stop for lights/traffic) When I do manage to coax it to idle, it's unsteady at just under 1,000.

Is this a common problem?
I've got a MOT coming up.

Thanks.

Try and replace the idle sensor. It should not cost too much

Also try cleaning the gunk out of the trottle body with some carb cleaner.

Best way is to obtain a new throttle body to inlet manifold gasket and take the throttle body off the car so you can really get behind the butterfly and get all the gunk out.

For the best job, you will need to get the throttle body electronically aligned by either VW or someone with vagcom.
