hi there guys ive been told that my 1990 audi 90 quattro (7A engine) might be fitted with a limp home device, ive never heard of this before and was wondering if anyone know if it has got one?:confused:

This sort of depends on what you consider to be a 'limp home mode'. The ECU is capable of flashing out ecu fault codes and lighting up a 'check engine light' on the dash - but only californian cars had the function enabled. UK cars do not seem to have the 'check engine light' at all, so the only way to flash out codes is with a 1.2w bulb or led
The same things that would cause the lamp to light generally cause the engine to run rough and in some cases like eg a knock sensor problem the timing would get retarded to prevent damage, but allow you to 'limp home'
