Polo central locking problem

Hi there,I have a 2000 Polo Tdi SE,the drivers door will not lock properly.It locks then when I remove the key the 2 front windows open and the door unlocks.I have to push the button down and lock the car from the passenger side.The door lock does not feel right when you use the key..

Any ideas

Hi Bob,

Sounds very similar to what I have experienced this weekend.
It started with the C/Lking system activating on its own while driving the car and front windows opening.

I then found the doors would lock when stationary using the key, only to find it would unlock as soon as the key was brought back to the 12 o'clock position and then windows would open.

I used some WD40 in the door look and then locked/unlocked/locked a few times.

After a couple of minutes the system started to operate as normal as has been fine over the past 48hours. The WD40 may have cleaned dirty contacts.

Might be worth investigating.

Have got the problem sorted,part of the lock had snapped stopping the lock from working.Cost me a fiver for the part and twenty quid for the garage to fit it
Its a common fault on VWs according to the garage
