Hi,
My neice lost all brakes on her 1999 1.8 petrol Audi A3 and asked me to look at it.
I checked all round for leaks and all I could find was a slight weeping on one of the rear caliper banjo fittings so while I was there I replaced the rear pads as they were low.
I bled the brakes using an easy bleed set up and got rid of the trapped air or so I think.
Now the situation is I can get a hard pedal with the engine off but as soon as the car is running the pedal sinks to the floor and even after pumping it still goes right down. The reason I am asking you boys for help is hoping someone will say it needs to be bled instead of the master cylinder needs to come out cos looking at it half the engine will have to come out with it.
Is this the case and what sort of job is it.
They say blood is thicker than water well I think we are just about to find out :-)
