Hi all,

I'm just about to take delivery of a 2006 A4 Avant 2.0Tdi with multitronic transmission :D - I've previously had 3 Golf GT Tdis in a row - and therefore I'm wondering what sort of mpg I can expect? My driving style is fairly relaxed and my miles will be a mixture of town, A-roads and motorway.

Also on the test drive I had with dealer I only drove the car in D, can the gearbox also be used like a tiptronic style?

Thanks

Hi Andy
I have a 1.9TDI Multitronic and get about 42mpg. I think the newer 2.0 engine should give similar results. My driving style is fairly gentle.

You can use the multitronic in a type of tiptronic mode. Mine has 6 'gears'. You push the gear lever forwards or backwards to go up or down a gear. Hardly ever use 'manual' mode though - the automatic is very good. Just be careful when trying to make a quick getaway as you can be left in no man's land :scared:
