Hello all,

Have posted on this forum before when I was thinking about 'budget' Audi A8 ownership...... common sense has kicked in(!!!) and I have been offered a 2005(05) metallic red 1.9 Tdi Octavia Elegance (105bhp). It is about £6500 with a full Skoda SH and 50,000 miles.

Is this a good buy, car looks great and very very clean inside and out. What sort of MPG can I expect on 200 mile motorway runs? I am sure it is the 105 bhp output is it likely to be the newer PD engine?

Have read the thread on Cambelts and I would aim to have it replaced as soon as finaces allow, but it seems that I am well inside the recommended mileage and age for that.

I am looking for a decent motorway cruiser that is economical and very comfiortable, cruise control is a must, I think I may have found it!

105 isn't as nice as the 140. Or the older PD 130. Goes okay though, 46 or so maybe average fuel . They never got as good as the original 110tdi in the mk1 octavia, which can get 55-65 AVERAGE. The bigger bhp PD's were rapid, but nothing got better than the 110tdi for mpg, it only ever got worse from there.

The 2.0 140's I have in seem to be as good as the earlier 1.9PD but with more go, they are RAPID.

Greg.
