oil light on dash??

hi there i have recently purchased a 1990 audi 90 quattro and on the dash the oil sign flashes but the oil level is spot on also the pressuse is showing just off the gauge. i think it might be the sensor but am not sure if anyone has any ideas please say im a bit stumped

I know you posted this a year ago. Did you ever find out what was wrong? I have the same problem that you have described. The engine is 2.0 16v.

You need to be careful with this. If it is due to lack of oil pressure serious engine damage will occur. Ask a garage to test the oil pressure using a gauge - this will determine whether it is a sender unit / wiring issue or is due to low oil pressure.

A sender unit would be relatively easy to change, low oil pressure would be more difficult / expensive.

I pressure tested it today. 5-4 bar at idle. Must be the sender thats knackerd! Il just take the light out of the dash - Fixed!
