i am looking at a new A4 paying cash, anyone know if you have to pay the lot at point of order or do you pay a deposit and then the rest when the car is ready just prior to delivery?

thanks

Expect a deposit of around £500 and the remainder on delivery

I was told I had to pay for all the extras up front....bit strange I thought but OK. When I paid the deposit that wasn't mentioned and it was just 1000.

Deposit of £1000 is normal and what I paid, paying for extras up front is NOT

I paid £500 up front, and then the balance before delivery. Seems like the normal way.

My car had quite a lot of options and I was not required to pay for them up front. Salesman trying to be cute methinks.

Yeah probably, but when it came to paying the deposit they were never mentioned. Maybe he was trying to see if I was a serious buyer.

Given the recession affecting car sales, wonder if some salesmen will be more customer friendly now!

£1000 deposit for me and I was not told to buy the options up front. That's crazy talk.

I went through the menu on the options but I still only had to pay 1000.00 up front and the balance when I picked up the car.
