Hi All, I have a spare remote fob for my A4 05 S-line would anyone know the procedure in getting the actual key cut and fitted to the fob. Is this a manufactuer jobby or can any locksmith cut the key section? I can see the key section can be replaced by removing the small roll pin within my working key & fob. I guess then i will have too get the remote programmed for my car???

Not unless you have the SKC (secret key code) for the immobiliser system. Audi used to give you this when you bought your car but they stopped a few years ago.

i hate monopolies! (and no i dont mean the game!)

I keep trying to find it cheaper but it looks like i will have to cough up £150 quid to the dealers for a key.:aargh4:

Is that not the plastic code thingy you get with the spare key.

Nope :(

I thought that, but that is the key code for Audi to re-cut the metal part of the key!

Thieving, robbing, fussin, mussin.. GRRRRR... I hate dealers that rob you of your money!!

In fact, I'm going to go in and demand my SKC when I go in for my service next week and see what they have to say!!
Might speak to my solicitor friend and see what she thinks on this situation, I'm fed up of things like this!!

Rant over :)

Another question is, can used key fobs be re-programmed to your vehicle? Ive been told by robbing manufactures that once the fob is programmed once it can not be reprogrammed for a different vehicle?????????
Is this correct anyone???????? :zx11:

I'm pretty sure you can re-program them as you are not actually reprogramming the key you are re-programming the car to accept the key :D

Thanks for your reply, it was an audi specialist i went too, since then have been told, but the person wasnt too sure but did say exactly what your saying, the car is programmed to accept the new fob!!! so they may be right in a way the fobs can only be programmed once then after that the car is programmed to accept? I suppose this is via the vacom system?
