Anyone know which models get what exhaust arrangement?

Are the petrol turbos 1 each side or twin like the TDis?

The 1.8 litre petrol is twin exhaust on one side, like the 2.0tdi. And the 2.0 litre and up is twin, one on each side.

From what I've read all the V4 (2.0 TDi etc) engines have twin pipes on the left (chromed on the S-Line) and the V6 (2.7 TDi, 2.0 TFSI etc) engines have split pipes, one on each side.

All 4 Cylinder versions have twin exhausts on the left so that includes the 2.0TFSI. 2.0TDI also has the same layout. 2.7 and above have one exhaust either side.

I think !!

On the old model Audi put exhausts either side on the 2.0TDi 170bhp, you never know they may do it again but annoyingly they never seem to mention it in the brochures.

Does it make a difference whether S-Line or Avant? I have seen virutally all combo's on the B6 and B7, but I know 2.0Tdi is twin left side, and 3.2Fsi is one each side.

Can anyone confirm for 2.0TFSi 170+211Bhp? I hope it is one each side!!

BTW - They have 4 cyl inline, not V4 - Only seen those on motor bikes and the Mk1 Capri :)

all of the 4 cylinder models in the B8 (including both variants of 2.0 TSFI ) have twin exhausts to one side like the 2.0 tdi according to dealers (and audi's german web site which seems to be a lot more accurate in the details than audi's uk site)

If you look at these pictures, I would say your dealer is wrong

I want to believe that too - less convinced becuase it was an Avant, and also it is an SE with Xenon headlamps - maybe that will be another difference between UK & Germany?

Drove this at the weekend (if picture has worked?!). S line Avant, 2.0T. You can see the pipes either side but I'm yet to see the saloon version with this engine.

According to the brochure the 2.0T avant has exhausts both sides.

Exact wording
"Exhaust pipes – 4-cylinder models have two exhaust

pipes on the left hand side. 6-cylinder models and
the 2.0 TFSI Avant model have one exhaust pipe on
each side"

Appears that only the 2.0T avant has the exhausts on each side.

One thing the 2.0T will not have is cromed exhaust tips. To get it you will have to go with the S-Line exterior package. I have asked my dealer if it is possible to get them without this package...still waiting for an answer. Looks much better I think.

Edit: Just noticed that this is standard in the UK. It´s not in Norway.

The chrome tailpipe covers are a dealer fitted option in the UK and in my view finish off the back of the car nicely.

I have them on my new black SE Avant (there are some pictures on my profile) and the cost was £40.

On the 3.0tdi I've got, it's twin exhausts, one either side. I'm sure the 2.7 has twin exhaust, on one side.

the 2.7 has the same exhaust layout as the 3.0

ie one each side

Not sure if this still applies but I was told when I bought my B6 that twin exhausts i.e. one either side of the car, were fitted to all models with a power output of 150 BHP and higher.

Bargain! Think they are quoted as £100 in my local...

if you go to audi.de and look at the KONFIGUREN your own car... doubles (each side) only comes on with the 3.2L

Does not come on with the 211hp 2.0L or the 180hp 2.0L

That is a pretty good indicator as the Germans usually get more with the packages compared to other countries...

I think the picture in the configurator is not correct. If you look in the german pricelist you can read (in german) that the 6-cylinder and the 2.0TFSI har one exhaust on each side. I´m pretty sure this "setup" is the same in all countries.

For the sedan or avant? Sorry, my german is not THAT good ;)

Looks like the Avant: "ein Endrohr links und rechts bei 6-Zylinder oder Avant 2.0 TFSI; zwei Endrohre links bei allen 4-Zylindern außer Avant 2.0 TFSI". The sedan is not mentioned.

I have seen a picture of a 2.0TFSI sedan with twin exhaust on one side (US forum). Looks like the avant has a different setup.

According to Audi, the reason why only the 2.0 TFSI avant gets the dual exhaust is because it lowers the interior noise a bit.

Seriously? Is that documented somewhere, or did you ask Audi and they responded with that explanation?

Asked Audi Sweden and according to the factory in Germany, the interior noise is the reason why. Makes sense actually, in the sedan the rear seat acts as a sound insulator. On the avant the exhaust noise resonates in the trunk, and no backseat is stoping it from reaching the passengers...

Have a sedan 2.0 TFSI on order so it's a bummer...
