Help....just solved cambelt noise and now this....

No warning light on dash but loud tappet noise when hot. Plugged a gauge in to check and I find virtually NO oil pressure when hot....Allowed engine to cool and the best I get is approx 15 PSI...:(

Planning on checking cam bearings 2mora...if they all look good is there a fairly good chance the main bearings will have survived the low pressure too?

What concerns me is that there has been no dash warning light come on just tappet noise and an engine that sounds like a bag of spanners...good job I checked with gauge!!

Don't want to go the expense/time of replacing oil pump if the chances are the rest of the lump is ******!!!

Any suggestions?

where do you check pressure? my old aeb 1.8t was very tappety, found out it had a valve/restrictor in oil filter housing, so i removed housing to check and valve just fell out!!
bought a new one, tenner from audi screwed it in properly, flushed and changed oil and car sounded 100 times better
