Newbie...Power Problems

Hi,

I'm a newbie and looking for some advice.....

My car is an 02 Golf TDI 150, one day about 3 weeks ago there was particularly heavy rain and lots of surface water. I drove through a couple of particularly large puddles, at speed, and my car momentarily lost its pull and then got progressively worse until it seemed to lose all of its guts.

Now, when I first start the car, it takes ages to get the revs up to 2500rpm and the turbo boost will momentarily kick in and I have some power to get me around but not very much at all. Oddly, it seems when I eventually get the revs up to 2500rpm, if I put my foot right down there is very little response however if I lessen the pressure on the accelerator I speed up a fair bit.

I'm wondering if water managed to get in somewhere it shouldn't have or if the power of the water, when driving through the puddles, may have managed to dislodge a pipe underneath the engine.

Would appreciate any advice you can give. Also, can anyone recommend a trusted TDI mechanic in the Bournemouth/Poole area.
