Help! I decided to change my air filter which seemed a simple enough job but has now made the car undriveable. Upon restarting after the filter change, the ESP light came on as I moved the car off the drive. The light refuses to go out even after retracing my steps and refitting the air filter (I had spotted a thread somewhere that had the possible diagnosis of a 'cracked airbox' linked to a constant ESP light... no sign of a crack). Tried disconnecting and reconnecting the battery in a failed attempt to 'make it forget' and double checked the connector plug for what I assume is an airflow meter in the inlet air tract.

The symptoms now are:- 'engine runs rough', ESP light is ON constantly after several restarts, car seems to auto brake itself above walking speed ... a bit like a spoilt child dragging it's heels in a tantrum and screaming 'I don't want to go' at Mum!!!(Does it know something???)

Max speed achievable is 5 to 10 mph... almost too dangerous to test drive round these parts.
any offers?
