Hello everyone,

i have recently had some problems with my Audi A4 1.8 SE (2000). My wife drove it to work last week, where someone point out it was leaking water.
I done some basic checks checking everything was topped up etc, all were ok. The wife did mention that she had the a/c on, so i assumed it just the run off from this. Carried on using it all week (short journeys) no problems.
On Saturday on a longish trip my wife called to say the Tempature has risen sharply to 90 c (its never gone this high before). She turned A/C on to cool the engine:confused: tempature drops and then shoot up again.

She calls AA who thinks its to do with the Auxillary fan not working, and to take it to garage asap.

What i'd like to know is, could it be anything else ie switch/relay fault, or could A/C be low on gas ( assumed water leak). If it is the fan any idea on repair costs?

Also would it be ok the drive without using A/C?

Thanks

kevin

90C is normal running temp, if the car normally runs cooler I would suspect a jammed thermostat.
