Hi. I have a 1998 A4 1.9TDi Avant that has had a slight judder at rest. I have now found that the engine temperature gauge is not working.
Looking at the Haynes manual, it describes 2 sensors - 1 which ensures the temperature gauge works and another which ensures the EMU is working correctly. If the EMU sensor isn't working, Haynes says that the EMU will take control of fuel flow etc and will run on a backup system, which is why I think this sensor is faulty, given that my car has a slight judder at rest. I have contaced a local parts supplier who, after taking my car registration number, says that there is only 1 sensor available with 4 pins on it for my vehicle - totally contradicting Haynes. Is this correct that only 1 sensor is required to opertae the temperature gauge AND the EMU? Thanks for any help.
