Ticking sound at idle

hi, I have an Audi 80 2.0E (1993).

It has started making a ticking noise when it is idling.

It has made a similar noise in the past when it has been low on oil. I have checked the oil though and it is fine.

Do you think this is something to be concerned about?

Hi

It's probably a hydraulic tappet ticking, fresh oil might help? As you have found keeping it near the max usually helps. They usually quieten down as the engine warms up, is it doing it all the time?

hi, I have been listening out for the sound when the car is cold / warm and I am pretty sure it quietens down abit after a while.

I will just leave it as is; but make sure the oil is topped up.

I will also change the type of oil next time I buy some.
