hi, i have just picked up a a6 advant 2.5 tdi, its a 2000 in a met grey colour on 18" wheels, i love it.

just found this forum and thought i would join and say hi

do have a question for you, where is the thermostat?
i think mine is stuck open, the water and the oil temp will not go above 70c and the water quickly cools to below 60 when driving steady.

hi,
well i found out where the stat was, its near the water pump which means the pump and the timing belt needs to come off.
got a quote from my local garage £600!!
so decided to have a look myself.
i found the wires not looking to good on the temp sensor.so i set about sorting them out,and low and behold the water temp sits at 90c now.
oil still around the 70c but i guess living on the isle of wight i cant push it that hard so the oil doesnt get that hot.

will hope to put some pictures up when it stops raining!!
