Battery trouble

just trying to change the battery on my tt 180 coupe and cannot get the damn thing out. Any help would be appreciated.

Have a look down the front of the battery, you'll find a clamp there.
It caught me out when I changed the battery on the wife's TT !

You need to loosen the two bolts at the front bottom of the battery with a 13mm and 10 or 12mm bolt socket c/w handle. Then lift up the battery.

13mm bolt - for holding the clamp securely onto the battery bottom.
12 or 10mm - for securing the plastic protective cover.

Caution : Loosen the bolts to 80-90%. Then use your hand to unscrew it. If you loosen it fully, it might drop down and it's not easy to retrieve it.

I just tried to change my wife's battery (02 TT, 225) but teh replacement battery, from Halfords, is too big for the box that envelopes the original battery. Is this a common problem with non dealer replacement batteries? Can anyone reccomend a replacement that will fit?
