97 A3 1.8T changer sticking

hi all - my A3 cd changer seems to have stopped wanting to eject the cassette and the headunit has been showing error when selecting it as an input.

i have removed the changer in the vain hope i would be able to work out and solve the problem and I want to avoid sending it to Audi to fix. any ideas?

I want to sell the car and am just shelling out 650 for its 2nd cambelt (167k!!) service and a load of other bits so minimal costs prefered. will it still sell without the changer? HU has a cassette slot.

Im sure someone will want it even if the changer isn't working.
You don't say what age the car is.
From the mileage I would half expect someone to be thinking of changing the head unit anyway.
I'm guessing the changer does not do mp3 which again is what most people want so I wouldn't worry.
You could always say wired for cd changer and just take out the changer at least they would know that if they can get hold of a working changer they don't have to run the wires
