Can't tell you about bio diesel, but could you tell me about this wire to fix judders, read somewhere on here about a wire but can't find detals, sounds cheaper than other approaches. Cheers

Thanks for that I'll give it a go.

Confused by other posts on here wether I've got the same fault, my tickover is perfect and driving generally great but every now and then it kind of dies for a split second, which makes the car hic-cup and gear stick judders. Almost feels like something jammed for a mo. If i rev it when not driving it sounds like its missing at the 3k mark so dont think anythings jamming on drive shafts. My last Audi 80tdi did it too but only very rarely, this one is much more frequent. Is this a the wire fault or something differant?

rasdaz give the wire a chop n make safe be sure to leave enough wire to rejoin if no different

Hi AudiJay,
I have been running on WVO for around 25k now and a number of issues have come about.
100cc per week oil leek
Blown intercooler hoses
Excessive wear on injection pump (squeaky when fuel under high pressure)
Oil spray from Turbo housing.

Before you start to panic, the IP wear was due to using oil still heavy with glycerine, make sure you use WVO that has been cleaned properly (oxy-methylate is the most common agent to use).
The hose problem is fairly standard with these cars at this age, and the rubbers are well known to deteriorate quickly, but I suspect the higher temperature has caused the already perished rubber to fail. I believe this to be the same reason for the oil leak, and the turbo spray (maybe one and the same thing, as I can't seem to find where the main oil leak is coming from) Its worth bearing in mind that this car has done 250k now, so its difficult to judge if the damage is just age, or whether the WVO has contributed significantly.

I'm hoping a few new hoses and ancillary gaskets will solve all these problems, and when I get round to replacing them, I will let you know my diagnosis!

well chuffed to hear that yours has 250k and still going strong appart from a few leaks. do you produce the bio yourself and does your motor take a few turns to start from cold i am on 100% at 156k saving a fortune but keeping an eye on lumpy tickover as this gently rocks the car .i use pottasium and methonol to obtain glycerol then 10ltrs of water to wash what goes in comes out if not more it takes more time but i know when dried no water or glycerol is in my golden nectar i am looking in to ressin towers but they cost a few quid if anyone has any sugestions the sugestions box is open to input/advice jaylancashire

Hi jay,
Just to let you know after my last post, none of the problems I had are due to running bio (intercooler hose split -> turbo over revving due to no back pressure -> oil seals burn through ->Doh!)
Unfortunately I don't have any space to produce it myself, so I just buy it from a back yard producer near town. As for the cold starting, it only really had an issue in the winter. Last year I bought an inline fuel heater (Vow2) and now the engine starts straight away even on the cold mornings.

ps.
I went to an underground eco-conference a couple of years back, and one of the guys there was using an old washing machine to heat the oil gently, while cleaning it out, and producing at one hell of a rate.
Very novel, but if you are producing yourself, it just goes to show that you don't need to spend vast amounts of money on specialised equipment to get a good setup.

the washing machine idea tickled me but i suppose it would work ,how much did you pay for your inline heater and last question have you had air in your fuel line on pipes going to filter cheers jay lancs
