Dropped into the dealers today to sort out some paperwork and grabbed these pics of my new 3.0TDI. Quality is the best my phone could manage in the pouring rain.

Colour looks fantastic, even soaking wet and in dull grey light. I will post some better quality pics once I pick it up on Thursday.

It does look similar to Avus/Akoya silver on the B7s and is a very nice colour. I want a B8 Avant now!!

I have been 'informed' that Monza is identical to Avus, ie just a rename.

Re-name or not your Avant looks the business. Making my wait even harder. Hope the sun shines on Thursday for you but somehow i guess you'll be smiling anyway.

Sorry, been too busy driving to post more pictures. Plus was hoping to take some in some sort of vaguely scenic location, but the great British summer put paid to that idea.

Here are some shots I took outside the house when I first got home. These really don't do the colour credit - the camera just can't catch the way it seems to absorb a bit of whatever colour is around it, especially blue.

Did think about having it de-badged for a bit of reverse psychology, as most of the badgeless cars are 1.8/2.0s. Mrs Satsu actually convinced me that we should not hide how fast we could go if she tells me to. :)

Interior is great too. Black leather is actually a very dark grey. I was worried that it would be a bit dark inside with the black roof lining, but actually it feels quite light and airy.

Finally, I have found a new favourite feature in the speed warning. I immediately set it to an appropriate level.

Don't tell Mrs Satsu. Actually, she was quite understanding when she pointed out how cool the digital speedo, ahem, might look with 3 digits on it. Ooops - so much for running it in gently.

I want an Audi A4 B8 Monza Silver! :crying:

Does the digital speedo white pointer actually move (like the analog pointer) on the MMI screen, how cool if it does.

Glad you're loving the car though ;)

Eeek! To try and prove that I'm not completely barmy I should point out that my last picture is of the speed warning setting in the MMI, not the digital speedo.

This is the digital speedo:

It's actually rather useful for the retention of driving privileges, especially around town when I've been used to a speedo where 30 was at the quarter-to position which is 60 in the new car!

What speed doe the speedo go up to if quarter position is only 60mph?! :aargh4:

Glad to see that Audi have kept the white backlighting on the dash dials, looks so classy with the red needles.

Straight around to 180 at quarter-past. Makes me wonder how far beyond the 155 limiter this car could get. :naughty:

From the Audi brochure it looks like cars in mainland Europe get a staggered speedo - goes in 20kph steps to 80, and then 40kph steps beyond that. Much better idea, but I guess that we have some 19th Century law that prohibits it. :)

Drop-dead gorgeous. Got any pics of the boot or backseat yet?

Thanks to all for the kind comments.

WhiteHartMart - chap down the road has a black S-Line saloon with 19" double-spokes. I'm not really into black cars (it's always been my mum's car colour) but even I think it looks stunning. Look forward to seeing pics of your avant.

For BMWBig6 - boot is nice and square with a low lip:

Floor flips over to provide a handy tray - not sure if this is standard or part of the storage pack:

Seats go reasonably flat - they go further than this with weight on them:

Back seats go nicely with front:

Back seat is pretty spacious. Headroom a little bit limited in the centre seat (I'm 6' and brush the ceiling) and of course there's the transmission tunnel, but not bad:

Thanks so much for taking the time to shoot (and upload) these photos. I notice you don't have the tracks in the boot floor with the telescoping adjustable dividers (like the A6). Is that optional?

This is what I'm talking about:

Yes, it's a £150 option and I didn't really see the need - if I've just got an odd bag of shopping it goes in the rear footwell.

Are there any carrier bag hooks in the boot?

There are 4 in my GTI and I hate to go back to the joy of the "THUD" ever time I turn a corner on the way home from Waitrose.

Ta in advance.

The ordinary saloon has very good spring loaded hooks but they are on the underside of the rear shelf. No 'thuds'.....presume the Avant has similar provision But not sure where they would be situated.

If there are no luggage hooks as standard you can retrofit them by rivet gunning them onto the underside of the roll-out luggage cover beam- you can get the hooks from vagparts.

Do this and you can also stretch the luggage net up against the rear seats.

Really nice car. The Monza silver looks excellent. It will be one of those colours that never really looks dirty and seems to glow almost whatever the weather!
