MFD Radio Navigation System Locked

Ive just bought a golf gti with all the options included.
I live in Italy but the manual is in German.

Ive locked the nav system and Im trying to find a way to reset it so that I can enter the code. Is there a way to do this without leaving the key in the ignition and the power on for more than an hour, because that didnt work.

The previous owner has gone on holiday so I can ask him. He has also "forgotten" to give me the code although I have a bunch of numbers on the manual which may be the unlock codes.

Ok Ive solved it.

The trick is to take your laptop into the car with you. With the key in the ignition (battery running only and the Nav system on), watch a movie that lasts over an hour. Once the movie is done, you can then enter the lock code...

ie: leave the battery running for an hour with the nav system on.
