are the cd's ones you have burned yourself or genuine ones from the shop?

Have used cds Burned by myself, but have been told not to use them, but the cd player will not recognise any.
if you mess about putting them in and taking them out eventually you can get one to p[lay but if you change track or cd it stops working.

Sounds like it is a dirty lens or a faulty transport.

I had to replace the transport in my home CD player about a year ago, although it was 10 years old (and still better quality than most of the current players!). Unfortunately you won't be able to do this in a car player as they are sealed units with proprietary transports.

Hopefully it is just the lens that is dirty. If a standard lens cleaner (looks like a brush on the back of a CD) doesn't work, you may need to buy a "wet" cleaner. Maplin do one for £9.99 - part number UU15R.

you have answered your own question.

try a bought cd, if it works perfectly then the fault lies with you and your choice of blank cd's or method and/or software used to burn them.

Sounds like it could be the transport or the laser they used to have a fairly average shelf life in a car due to the bouncing around.
Not sure what the new ones are like compared but I would imagine bouncing around can't be the best for them

Connects2 do a range of adaptors to make changers work with original head units at least that would let you keep everything on show standard.
You could always try asking ICE specialists they must take these out when they do custom instals and not everyone wants the old one back.

Or if you know anyone at a dealer they sometimes have them in the back if they have done an upgrade for someone (this used to be headunits more I admit)

Thanks for that descb600f i will call at the dealers tonight and see what they say...............

I know the other way would keep the look original but rather have one that works, but at least thats an alternative
Cheers
