buying an a4 1.9tdi quattro

hello all

i'm looking at buying an a4 19.tdi quattro,the one i have got to and test drive is 1998 model with 145k and full service history,the lad who is selling it has his own garage and has done for last 15 years,if happy i can have it for 1800 with the first oil and filter change thown in when it's needed.
does this seem a good deal i know the price is pretty good..:beerchug: i think

what do i need to look for (any common faults i should check)

and basically any advice on buying the car.
