Can anyone help please, I have a minor problem with my 80 which had 165,000 on the clock and going very well, but i have noticed a problem, when running along at small throttle opening it seems to put out quite a bit
of black smoke, (about 2000-2500 rpm) when you accelerate through it it seems to clear and stop smoking.Sometimes it lacks a bit of power as if the turbo has suddenly lost boost.

It could be the needle lift sensor on injector no.3
This should be detectable by doing a fault code scan.

I think I have now found a problem which will account for one of the symptoms at least.The small length of hose that goes to the intake manifold from the intercooler had a split in it, i have now replaced this and the old bus has a new lease of life.As for the smoking, i havent checked that as yet.
