Hi,

Got an Audi A8 3.2 FSI SE Multitronic SI.

Both of the rear tyres are on the legal limit, so I thought about replacing them.

Cheapest quote I can get is 800 for the tyres alone - fitted :1zhelp:.

I have rung around.

The problem seems to be that the tyres have some sort of sensors in them, and it's a specialist job to fit them?

The tyres are:

245-690R 500A99Y Michelin Run Flats HAA 1521.

All I want are run flats. I dont care if the car cannot sense when the tyres are flat, I can work that out myself.

I have asked the tyre fitters about standard run flats, but have been told the alloys will only take this special kind of tyre...

Is there any truth in this?

What can I do to fit standard (cheaper) runflats?

I'm not paying 800 for two tyres - that's daylight robbery.

Thanks.

Ouch!

Im sure the alloys can take regular tyres.

Also for that price you could get a new set of alloys and tyres.

killingtime, I have the same problem as you, just wondering what wheels you changed them for and where you got them from? If you changed the wheels for a different size, did they fit without any spacers or adjustments?

If the cost of tyres puts you off, wait until you need new discs!!

You may be looking in the wrong forum, everything on the A8 is expensive with a capital E

Beautiful car,
best driving seat I have ever sat in
Great fuel consumption for the size and comfort
but scary costs for any spares
