I want to be rid of the old grey plastic bumpers and skirts on the Avant.

I found this guy:

http://www.bumperbits.co.uk/70050/info.php?p=2&pno=0&cat=16639&search=&sought=

But I don't know if there is a rear bumper in the S4 style that doesn't have cutouts for the exhaust, as my A4 is a TDi.

Anyone know what I need to ask for?

To be clear, the lower bumper parts are what I want so the car will have this appearance:

Here's the rear skirt for a TDi.

You might want to consider looking into Audi A4 Ultrasport parts. I believe they offered this S Line option on the TDI B6 A4 in Europe. This might give you a rear valence that would look great.

I just ordered an S-Line front and rear bumper pieces and S4 door flares for my 2002. I am getting rid of the ugly grey pieces too. I will have installed by the end of the month (pics will follow). Should be an easy swap. I have pics of the parts I ordered on my site if you need something to look at.

Visit your Audi dealer and investigate that TDI B6 Ultrasport. It may be an option for you. You could also search Ebay. I know they have rear kits on there right now where the pipes stick through the mesh through the bumper cover. Just mesh over where the tips would have been and it will look real clean, maybe even close to what you posted.

this is brilliant Patrick, thanks. :D I have searched eBay but so far it appears that most of what is on offer is a bit OTT for me.

I'm really interested in the s-line parts you are going to install, and would really appreciate it if you showed photos of the installation process, because I would like to do it myself.

I assumed you are spraying the parts before fitting them?

In the meantime I'm going to go look for the Ultrasport kit you mentioned.

Ah I should have taken more notice. :Blush2: It's all on your website.

I take it you are based in the US mate? I'll assume that the part numbers are original.

BTW what is the opinion on this kit. From my rough translation I only require the one part. I keep all the original grills etc.

Yeah I am trying to be as informative as possible, so I posted all the part numbers (the door flare part numbers might not be listed on the correct perspective door...I still need to verify), and I am constantly updating. The site is only a week old at most.

I don't think the TDI Ultrasport rear bumper cover has the exhaust outlets...not sure. Since it is cold as snot out I have a buddy in a body shop that will do most of it for me. I will try to get as many pics of the process as possible. He will do the spray and install for me. The install is not very difficult to do, but he is only charging me $500 to paint it all and put it all on. Now that's a deal. It's a big help to have good friends in all areas the car industry. I usually do most of the work on our cars myself, but this I couldn't pass up. For install info visit another site A4Mods.com (http://a4mods.com/index.php?page=webcontent/pages/bumperremoval.html) for a detailed write-up on bumper removal and installation.

The body kit on Ebay you just showed I had looked at several times. It is a nice looking kit and not to expensive. I just remembered what I said to myself a while ago...I wish the S4 had the S-Line Ultrasport bumpers. They are really sharp. They are replaceable too if I break one. That's why I bought what I bought. I am very excited about this project car, and yes I will post pics at the end of the month as soon as it's done.

And yes...I am in the midwest USA mate!

G'Day Patrick. I'm an Aussie very far from home, living and working in the UK.

Again thanks for the informative posts. I'm looking forward to seeing your project progress.

I just spotted an s-line spoiler on eBay Germany and put in a bid. I think if I fit this one I need to have a different bumper as well. But if it stays cheap I will consider it:

That front s-line air dam runs $218 US Dollars from a dealer here. I got wholesale at $175 USD. That might help you. I am SCREAMING with ANTICIPATION at how my car is gonna look.

Note: The center grill you have now will NOT work. That ran me $134 USD wholesale, $168 USD regular price from a dealer. You will also need the fog light trim covers too. They were cheap at $35 USD, $27.50 USD wholesale.

Those part numbers are posted on my site as well.

Have fun with it. You will need to send me some photos with your car & mods description and I will even post them in our gallery. That is an open invitation for anyone to show their ride!

Send the photos to octane_freak[at]msn.com and I will put them up. Make sure you label the email "A4 Photos". I look forward to seeing it! When you get the part numbers for the TDI Ultrasport (Euro spec) rear bumper cover I would like that info.

I just got done installing the paint matched side skirts and OEM S4 door blades. Looks Great!

Ran into a BIG problem though:

My rear bumper looks like a two-piece, but on closer inspection is a ONE PIECE. Dawgone it! Also, the front upper won't match the new ultrasport lower.

You will need to order the upper bumper covers for the pieces to work, and they run $400 (front) to $550 (rear). This definitely increases the costs.

I am going for it, as I want the look. I will post the part numbers soon on www.AudiA4Mods.com

Ok. Both upper bumpers are in, and they are getting painted right now. I posted the part numbers on my site. Front upper was $450 USD, and the rear was $550 USD. That had a little sting to it, but it could be worse. I can't pass up the OEM fit though...that's why I am going to all the trouble. We are going to try and finish it up tomorrow.

This whole kit ran me about $2100 USD I think.

Tanuki, there is a lower USP (sline) DIY where you can just buy the lower part and mod the upper to fit.

http://www.audizine.com/forum/showthread.php?t=87970&highlight=usp+diy

Yes, the rear stock a4 bumpers appear to be 2 piece, especially w/ unpainted lowers. but they are in fact 1 piece.

good luck!

Brian

I'm assuming that TDI REAR cover is also 1 piece?

patrick

I would assume they are one piece on the TDI as well. Another thing to consider...you will need the rear bumper aluminum trim, /and/ a different rear bumper reinforcement/rebar. The trim was only $25, and the rebar $330. I do have the complete list of parts needed posted on the www.AudiA4Mods.com site now....what a pain it has been!

We did get the front bumper all put together, and it looks great against the S4 door blades (pics coming soon). The rest of the rear bumper parts should be in on Friday....we might be able to get it finished up that day too.

I did get the springs installed too. Definitely a lot tighter. It doesn't sit really low either...I wanted to avoid "really low". It snows to much around here. Those springs worked great.
