Hi, I have just ordered a Tiguan. Unfortunately, it is a dealer order and I cant change the spec.
The dealer offered a Parrot blutooth, or a retrofit to the RC 510 As i do not want to fit a parrot screen ( not astheticaly pleasing ) I would like to have the retro fit to the current head unit. But the dealer wants a considerable amount to fit this...
Would somebody let me know if there is a retro fit b.tooth kit for the RC510... Thanks in advance.

Do you have the MultiFunction Steering Wheel with the phone buttons?

If so I've previously fitted a Parrot CK3000 with the multican unit to work with the buttons. Cost about £115 for all the bits including cables, it works seamlessly and you can't see any external changes. The ugly little Parrot screen isn't used.

I've also got a car with the new RCD510 and the fully integrated bluetooth kit, factory fitted. The set-up is extremely good but it is very expensive - £220 for the radio upgrade and £575 for the bluetooth.

You can buy the VW kit from Kauftec and others, but it needs a fair bit of fitting, including meddling with VAGcom. Here's a thread that gives you a bit of a picture on how to do it - not for the faint hearted. http://www.octavia-vrs.com/technical/bluetooth.html.

It's probably not a goood idea to pay a dealer good money to fit a Parrot kit. Chances are the will get a specialist phone fitter in and just put a mark-up on top of the cost. Try the Yellow Pages. Carphone Warehouse were doing a good deal on Parrot fitting, but this has now probably expired.

I don't think there will be the mf wheel in this spec. So I have the hard choice or the expensive one!!

A bit like all things in life!!

Thanks for all your assistance.

Just been playing with the VW Premium Bluetooth system.

It is fab, but seems very picky about which phone you have. It was okay woth a couple of Nokia's, but said that a Samung was notcompatible.

For it to work, a phone must be rSAP compatible, so don't dive in without making sure your phone is not going to be scrap!

This is all very interesting, but looks like i will now concede as the dealer said they will do it for around £500... I dread to think how the car will end up if i try doing the job myself.
Once again thanks for your help.

I'm trying to get my dealer to do a post factory upgrade to the RCD510 for bluetooth phone and they won't do it (say it's only factory fitted). Can you tell me who your dealer is or know any private coys that do it?

Thanks
