Hi Guys

Here in South Africa the service schedule for the Audi A4 2.0 manual states that the cambelt+"fan"belt needs replacing only after 180000kms.(110000 miles) (I've also confirmed it with several dealers). Most other models 18T 3.0 V6 etc states anywhere between 60000 and 90000 kms.

To me it sounds very high, but considering dealers love money it makes sense to make this interval shorter, so are they onto something here? Is this belt that good? What is the interval else where (UK)?

The *********** quoted R 9000-00 (GBP700)for the Cam service (Major). A local Audi "expert" (backyard mech)stated that it is good to also do the waterpump at this stage as the bearing tend to give in at 160000km, does this sound true??

Is the Waterpump driven by the cambelt? If so if it goes belly-up will it snap the cambelt....what would the result be...bent valves??

Cheers and beers from sunny SA
