chipping an A3 tdi se 130 2002?

Does anyone have any experience of this? is as simple as replacing the ECU?.....obviously suspension etc needs a revamp possibly.......and the already massive tyre wear will be increased (I have always had to change front tyres when they are at around 3mm anyway if I didnt want to end up eating armco or hedge:D even under reserved driving)............but anyone got any thoughts or experience?
