Intermittent jolting/dash lights

Hello!

Beetle 1.6 2002, 22k miles.

When starting from cold this morning, and changing from 1st to 2nd gear the car started to jolt and run rough. At the same time the ESP light and EPC light illuminated. After a restart the same happened. However returning to it later on the car was fine, no lights and is running ok, apart from the revs being slightly irregular.

Can anyone help?

dont know if any help but same thing happened to my W reg 2 Litre and it got increasingly worse. took to VW and the leads and plugs needed changing. was fine after that.
