Fuel Filler Flap won't close

Hi

The Fuel Filler Flap on my Golf mkiv won't close.
i used the button on by the handbrake to open the flap, but when i'd finished filling up it wouldnt close.

Have had a look & can't see anything preventing it from closing....

any ideas ???

I bought a Golf this week which has the exact same problem... I have checked and the locking pin is moving,but it is almost as if it is not coming out far enough to secure on the latch?...any ideas greatly appreciated.

My Golf is doing the same thing. I went to my car last night and the flap won't close. I'm not actually sure when this happened. I didn't notice it the last time I refueled.

Does anyone have any idea how much this would cost to fix?
