key fob

My second key/remote fob is not operating, Golfmark 4 2000 diesal .can the battery be tested, is there a time limit on replaceing the battery, or what would the forum advise to get this operating.

There is no time limit on changing the battery, you caould always try the batteries out of your other fob.
