fit new phone to old carphone plug?

I have '02 passat with gamma stereo, with a fitted handsfree connection (looks like it was for an old sony/ericsson phone, too wide to fit current ericcson phones). Photo of the existing connector is attached (i hope).
Does anyone know of an adapter available, or other way to convert this to a mini-usb plug so I can use it with my existing mobile and free me from the bluetooth headset blues?file:///A:/passat%20phone%20lead.jpg

without seeing it, i would guess it wont be easy to adapt what is in there to fit your current phone. you would likely have more luck by buying a new bluetooth hands free kit and get that connected to the stereo.

thanks danansome i think you are probably right - was hoping someone would have made something for it.

if they did make something for it, it probably wouldnt be far off the cost of a decent BT kit anyway, plus with a Bt kit, it should be compatible with any phones you may get in the future.
