;)

I doubt I could pull off 1650km on one tank to be honest. I'm half full and I've got around 440km on the trip counter. Got the air condtioning on but trying to keep an eye on the gear change indicator. Will see how I do before the fuel warning light comes on.

Anyone keeping an eye on the fuel consumption? I'm hoping I'll get better consumption when the engine is bedded in fully.

My old Passat can do this.....

This is a UK car so doing a quick conversion....

Range 755 miles + miles driven 68 = Total range = 823 miles

823 miles x 1.609 (km's) = 1324.21 km's

I've had the range reading up to about 900 miles which would equate to about 1450 km's. Saying that, that is grannying it along but not a slow as those Audi's !! Also, I NEVER EVER switch the aircon off.

I do cheat a little bit as well as I vent the tank which gives me about an extra seven litres fuel capacity.

Hats off to those Audi's though, that really is very good. I wonder however how effiecient they would be driving in real world conditions i.e. over 50mph and accelerating normally? Bet my olde Pasty would have them beat!

Venting the tank only works on diesels.

If you look at the filler neck, just inside on the right hand side, you will see a black button / protrusion. Simply fill as normal until the nozzle clicks off then withdraw the nozzle and use it to push the button in, continue filling slowly and you will find on a Passat (probably all other VAG diesels) that you can get another 7 litres of fuel in the tank.

Col when you say it can, did it? I have had the trip puter suggest a potential 460 miles at a fill up but I have only ever had about 360-370 out of it.

It would, however...........

I've NEVER EVER had the patience to continually granny over a whole tank. I average anywhere between 450 and 550 per tank. I'm very fond of hooning it along as in my mind, my time is more important than saving a few quid on fuel.

One day though I will see if it lives up to it's promises, one day.

That is low milage for a TDI.

That piccy was taken a month or so ago and the car is currently nearing 138k.

There is a thread on here 'high milage club' or similar. Some of the cars on there have well over 300k on them and are still going strong.
